This thrilling story is triggered by the daring Christmas Eve robbery of Trinity Church in New York’s downtown Financial District.

 

George Washington once worshipped in this historic church that stands majestically at the head of Wall Street. Its parishioners are formed by the wealthiest of New York’s wealthy elite.

 

Detective Lieutenant Amos Freeman is on his way home from Big Dot’s Jungle Bar. He’d been out buying the obligatory presents, not wanting to go home because besides having slipped into a loveless marriage, both sets of in-laws were spending the holidays with them, and he wanted to be as far away from home as possible.

 

It’s by pure chance that he is the first senior officer to stumble upon the aftermath of the church robbery, and when he takes charge, he catches the Mayor’s eye.
